June 6th General Membership Meeting
and Street Fair
What a wonderful show of support by our community. Thank you so much to all who attended. We heard throughout the event people were so happy to be among others who cherish the lake and want to join us in our efforts to Conserve, Preserve, and Educate.
September 2025 General Membership Meeting
The second General Membership Meeting was held in the Brick House inside of Camp Clearwater.
The guest speaker was Jim Perry, former director of the Lumber River Council of Government and one of the writers of the Lake Management Plan for White Lake, September 2019.
We also introduced Gap, our mascot. Gap, a dinner plate size slider turtle, was found during our Lake Clean-up in the fall of 2024, injured on top of an ant hill. He was scooped up by some of our volunteers and he was rehabilitated under the care of vet. He returned to White Lake in the summer of '25.
Those in attendance were asked to write postcards to David Rouzer, US Representative of North Carolina, in support of trails grants. Palmer McIntyre, key advocate of the Great Trail State Coalition, spoke on our behalf to Representative Rouzer and the postcards are a follow-up from citizens here at White Lake.
Reports were given by several other members. And as always, a few new folks found their way to us. White Lake Friends continue to grow.
General Membership Meeting - April 2025
The next General Membership Meeting was held at White Lake Town Hall. At each meeting, we grow in numbers and dream big.
Some of the items discussed were:

We plan to have a table at the Easter Festival at CCW

Cathy mentioned a meeting with a scientist and asked for those interested to let her know.

Cathy made mention of gifts in the “memory of” program. In the house when we get it, we could have a wall of gifts.

Summer camps for kids. Who would like to help organize this? Jamie mentions the camps at Crystal Beach for swimming, and skiing. Susie P mentions the help of 4-H.

Patty brings the group back saying we need people to sign up as organizers for family/children groups and a lecture series. Cathy suggests one summer camp Susie H suggests this year we make it a Pop-up Events. Set a date, second Tuesday. Post on Social Media, ice cream shops, not so much on any one person.

The First General Meeting of the
White Lake Friends January
The first General Meeting for the White Lake Friends on January 25th was a success. The number of folks present (30 in all) and the energy and enthusiasm were great. Those present made a list of things they would like to see this group concentrate on accomplishing.
